Safety & privacy
What are we doing regarding your safety?
The BikeSharing community is essentially built on trust. Everyone can join the platform, so we have implemented a few features that can help your decision to trust someone or not:
- 1. Profiles : Our members are encouraged to fill out a basic profile (including a picture), telling you a bit more about themselves.
- 2. References : After each 'transaction', whether it be borrowing or lending, people are encouraged to leave a reference for each other, informing others about their experience.
- 3. Messaging : In-app messaging allows you to get to know someone a bit better before borrowing / lending a bicycle.
What can you do to ensure your safety as a bike owner?
- Review a profile carefully and ask for more information through messages if you like. Pay close attention to a user's references. If the user has no references yet, get to know them through the system first.
- Write thorough references so that other people know what to expect.
- Check your bicycle together with the bike user to make sure you both know in what condition the bicycle is before someone rides it.
- Exchange phone numbers so that you can contact each other if necessary.
- Propose to ride along. People may appreciate to view your city through a local's eye.
- Agree on a specific time at which the bike should be returned, to avoid disappointment or problems.
